July 17, 2012—Vascular Solutions, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) announced that it has entered into an agreement with VueTek Scientific LLC (Gray, ME) to distribute VueTek's Veinsite vascular imaging system, which received marketing clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration in February 2011.
Under an agreement that runs through December 31, 2015, Vascular Solutions will market and sell Veinsite to vein practices in the United States and 20 other countries, including Canada, Mexico, and the European countries that accept the CE Mark.
According to Vascular Solutions, the VueTek Veinsite system is designed to simplify vein treatment procedures by making locating veins easier. The portable and hands-free device is composed of a battery-powered headset that uses near-infrared light to identify veins below the skin surface. The Veinsite system displays a high-quality image of the veins directly to the user when performing procedures such as sclerotherapy and phlebectomy.
